Continuing Education
The Division of Continuing Education of New York City College of Technology, located in Brooklyn, N.Y., offers various programs for more than 9,000 students every year, serving businesses, union members, incumbent workers, career changers and those in need of basic skills. The center provides noncredit and credit programs on campus as well as off-site at business, industry and community locations. It is supported by fees from individuals, public and private sector grants, contracts with business and industry, and union and other vouchers. The continuing education programs include courses in computer and medical office skills, welding and network technologies. In addition, its study center works collaboratively with the academic departments of various colleges to develop courses, such as the credentialed alcoholism and substance abuse counseling, and ophthalmic dispensing. The center works closely with municipal and state licensing and certifying authorities in various areas. The adult learning classes also include tae kwon do, wine tasting and interior design.
