Established as a home for abandoned children, New York Foundling has been serving children, preserving families and building communities since 1869. It is one of the oldest and largest child welfare agencies in New York. The organization offers educational, preventive and family support services for more than 13,000 people annually. It provides foster care, residential and mental health care services. New York Foundling also offers youth development, medical screening, health status assessment and clinical care services. It provides legal advocacy and in-home care services, as well as operates the Mott Haven Academy, which is a charter school that serves over 310 students in kindergarten through grade eight.
